Please Examine Your Helmet!

MAHL President Ken Hoffman and MAHL Equipment Director Paul Bucchi are urging parents and players to examine hockey helmets for certification expiration dates on the Hockey Equipment Certification Council (HECC) stickers. According the HECC, “The expiration date of the label is 6.5 years after the date of manufacture. Also on the outside rear of helmets are CSA labels with the year of manufacture on them. The manufacturers also provide a date of assembly/manufacture inside the helmet.”

Expired helmets are not allowed for use in USA Hockey sanctioned events.

Additional information regarding HECC expiration can be found at http://www.hecc.net/labels.html

In accordance with the MAHL Equipment policy, equipment will be provided to skills development age players. Players over the age of skills development are encouraged to obtain a helmet though other means.
