Return to hockey update

On June 2, Michigan Amateur Hockey Association (MAHA) released their "Return to the Game 20-21" plan. This document gave a season outline and also gave recommendations on team formations and insight into how practices and games may look once the state's rinks are able to open and how to do so in a way to keep our kids safe while following local and state guidelines.

In the season outline presented by MAHA, it states that after the initial opening of rinks is allowed, travel team tryouts may occur starting 37 days after that initial opening with house team drafts starting 52 days after that initial re-opening. Sharing this timeline helps give us an expectation on how things can proceed once rinks are reopened and for us all to prepare accordingly.

Things are frequently changing and  there are still many unknowns on what our teams will look like,  how any travel restrictions will affect things, and how many will be allowed into the rink once things reopen and are dependent on the executive orders issued by the State. We are all eager to return to the game and when the restrictions are lifted and the Midland Civic Arena is ready to open, we will be prepared to issue a plan regarding registering for the 20-21 hockey season.

We hope you are all safe and doing well during these challenging and changing times and we look forward to when we can see you all back on the ice!

Message from the President

All MAHL Families:

The Midland Amateur Hockey League has been working hard to prepare for next season.  It is still unknown at this time when we can return.  We have been on a number of conference calls with MAHA and USA Hockey trying to figure out a plan for what the 2020/2021 season could look like.  As more unfolds over the coming weeks we will be sure to let all of you know.  We will continue to make decisions based on the safety of our families as our number one priority.

With that in mind all current restrictions remain in effect until further notice.  This includes, but is not limited to, board meetings, practice, games, and recruiting.  Again this is an ever evolving situation and we will keep you all posted on information when it becomes available.

Annual Board Meeting - Our plan will be to hopefully hold our annual in person meeting in the near future.

Please follow our Website and Facebook for updates.

Thank you all for the continued support.
